Mike Adams
Chief Instructor
Mike Adams is one of Roco Rescue’s Chief Instructors and a familiar face to many of the students who come through our programs. With decades of experience and a steady, encouraging presence, Mike has a way of putting people at ease the moment you meet him. Around the Roco Training Center, he’s known not only for his knowledge but for the attitude he brings to work each day. His positive outlook and genuine care for others leave a lasting impression on coworkers and students alike.
Mike’s path with Roco began in the equipment warehouse, where he spent about a year before moving into standby rescue work and eventually becoming an instructor. He studied Fire Science at LSU Eunice and holds certifications as a Confined Space and Rope Rescue Technician.
One of the parts of the job Mike enjoys most is watching students grow during a course. Many arrive with little familiarity with confined space or rope rescue systems. After several days of hands-on training, they leave with the knowledge and confidence to apply those skills on the job. He also values the relationships built with students and colleagues along the way.
Originally from Jennings, Louisiana, Mike now lives in Baton Rouge. He and his wife Lisa are the proud parents of two children, Dremell and Charmaine. Before his career in rescue training, Mike was a running back and track athlete at Southern University and was selected as a free agent by the San Diego Chargers in 1985.
Mike’s favorite scripture is John 14:6: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
