Scotty Shelton
Special Projects/Business Development
Scotty Shelton brings more than four decades of experience in emergency response, rescue, and training to Roco Rescue. Based in the City of Central, Louisiana, Scotty served for 30 years with the Baton Rouge Fire Department, retiring as Chief of Training for the department. In that role, he supervised the training staff, developed recruit academies, conducted needs analyses, and led recruiting and candidate selection efforts.
Scotty also served as Program Coordinator for Louisiana USAR Task Force Two, deploying statewide for natural disasters including Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav, and leading a response to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, following devastating tornadoes.
Scotty’s broad emergency response background includes fire, rescue, medical, hazmat, and law enforcement operations. He served with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division, the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, and the Louisiana Air National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing as a Search and Extraction Medic. He is a seasoned paramedic and military medic with instructor qualifications in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
Scotty also spent five years as Emergency Manager and Fire Protection Specialist for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and served three years as Emergency Management and Incident Response Manager for Entergy Corporation before coming back to his roots at Roco. He holds a degree in Fire Science from American Military University and is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy.
