William (Bill) Stio

CSRT Chief & Level III Instructor

William “Bill” Stio joined Roco Rescue in 2017 and has become an integral part of the team in the New York area. Starting as a CSRT team member, he advanced to CSRT Chief and, most recently, Level III Instructor. Bill now leads training classes, manages standby jobs, and assists clients with equipment needs, all while sharing his expertise with others.

Before joining Roco, Bill dedicated 32.5 years to law enforcement, serving with the New York City Police Department and the Nassau County Police Department, where he spent a decade in the Emergency Service Unit. His commitment to public service extends to the Dix Hills Volunteer Fire Department, where he has served for over 40 years in roles ranging from firefighter and EMT to Chief of Department. Bill also holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a U.S. Coast Guard 25-Ton Master’s License.

Bill’s favorite part of his work at Roco is traveling across the country to meet people from diverse industries and environments. He enjoys exchanging ideas and learning about different operations and equipment, finding inspiration in the unique challenges each location presents.

Outside of work, Bill spends time volunteering with the Dix Hills Fire Department, playing with his three grandchildren, and enjoying hobbies like fishing, golfing, camping, and boating. A proud Eagle Scout and lifelong Dix Hills resident, Bill is happily married to his wife Linda, a registered nurse for over 40 years. Together, they have three adult children, all police officers, and share a passion for serving their community.
