What are the benefits of Roco’s certification program?

Roco’s Rescue Technician certification is a great way to get your team members to the same performance level and provide peace of mind that your team is functioning at its best and safest.

Based on the skill requirements or job performance requirements (JPR’s) of NFPA 1006, Roco’s Rescue Technician certification program is designed to evaluate and document the individual rescue skills of each team member. Documentation of testing to a national consensus, such as NFPA, can be invaluable to your emergency response program in that it establishes a baseline of required skills, capabilities, and performance standards. It also provides an excellent hands-on evaluation by an independent third party that individual proficiency requirements have been achieved.

Roco certification includes a minimum of five testing stations – which covers rescue knots, load sharing anchor rigging, belay systems, patient packaging, mechanical advantage and more. Roco’s standardized testing provides excellent confirmation and perhaps more importantly, it provides documentation that the rescue skills have been met.

Students will earn their “Roco Rescue Technician” certification by demonstrating required practical skills and passing a comprehensive written exam. Students who successfully complete the testing will receive Roco certification for Confined Space (and/or Rope) Rescue Technician. This certification is valid for two years.

“Make sure your team members are proficient in their skills, evaluated fairly and consistently, and can perform their emergency response duties under pressure.”

Make sure your team members are proficient in their skills, evaluated fairly and consistently, and can perform their emergency response duties under pressure. Because of the intensity of this testing process, our certification classes tend to be more rigorous classes while graduating more skilled rescuers. This testing is an excellent way to establish a “skills” benchmark for your team as well as procedures for new team members. As OSHA so clearly emphasizes, it’s all about documenting your proficiencies as well as determining areas where improvement may be needed.

Roco certification programs are available in the following disciplines:
