Feel free to download, review, and reference them before, during, or after your course. You will also be getting a Roco Student Study Guide on the first day of class.
Preparing for Your Training at the Roco Training Center (RTC)
To ensure a smooth visit to our Baton Rouge training facility, we’ve prepared a comprehensive site information sheet. This includes key details like address and contact info, course start times, recommended hotels with special “Roco Rate” discounts (including breakfast), airport directions, and what to bring for your training sessions—such as helmets, gloves, and supportive footwear. Download the RTC Site Sheet to plan ahead and focus on what matters most: mastering rescue techniques.
Mastering Essential Rescue Knots
Knots are the foundation of safe and effective rescue operations, and proficiency comes with practice. Our “Rescue Knots for Roco Students” guide covers a core selection of knots, including terminology, types (like loops, hitches, and bends), efficiency tips, and step-by-step tying instructions for knots such as the Figure-8 on-a-Bight, Bowline, Clove Hitch, and more. Use this resource to review and rehearse before class, and remember our key advice for knots: dress, load, safety, and practice!
For deeper insights into knot selection, check out our blog post “Why Knot?” It explores factors like ease of tying and untying, security under load, and efficiency losses, helping you choose the right knot for various rescue scenarios. Whether you’re dealing with wet ropes, shock loads, or one-handed applications, this article provides practical tips to enhance your decision-making.
Instructional Videos
Visual learning is key in rescue training, so we’ve compiled a library of videos demonstrating real-world techniques and equipment use. From knot-tying tutorials and mechanical advantage systems, to rigging courses for EOD and tactical teams, these clips offer step-by-step guidance on topics like patient packaging, SKED bridle configurations, and device reviews (e.g., CMC Clutch by Harken). Watch them to reinforce classroom concepts or preview skills before your course.
NOTICE – These videos may depict specialized rescue techniques. Proper training is required.
